WEVA 2011
The 12th Congress of World Equine Veterinary Association will be hosted by the Indian Association of Equine Practitioners’ (IAEP). Over 1000 Veterinary delegates from around 62 Nations are accepted to attend WEVA 2011 and will be able to choose lectures from a comprehensive programme. During WEVA 2009 held in Brazil, India successfully won the bid for 2011 conference. WEVA is the most prestigious gathering in the equine veterinary calendar, and is for the first time travelling to Asia. It is a matter
of great pride for India, that the Indian Association of Equine Practitioners has been chosen by the World Equine Veterinary Association as its gateway to Asia and to hold this prestigious conference. It is an excellent education opportunity for practicing vets in the equine industry, government, research and equine welfare.
Hyderabad was chosen as the venue, as it is centrally located and has easy accessibility with rest of the world. The year 2011 has been designated World Veterinary Year, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the first veterinary school in Lyons, France; the birth of the modern veterinary profession.

VENUE CITY
The city of Hyderabad, built in 1591-92 to reflect Sultam Mohammed Quli Shah’s splendor, was originally on the South side of the Musi river, the area now known as the old city; its most well known landmark is the Charminar. The city has the second largest mosque in India, the Mecca Masjid, which took 78 years to build and is reputedly the seventh largest mosque in the world (it can accommodate 10,000 people). The capital of Andhra Pradesh, an Indian state in the South of the country, Hyderabad is one of the
largest cities in India. Attached to the city is its twin town, Secunderabad, separated from it by Hussain Sagar, an artificial lake constructed in 1562.
VENUE LOCATION HICC
Hyderabad International Convention Centre (HICC) is India’s first purpose built convention facility located in the emerging business hub of India – Hyderabad. The city is centrally located making it easily accessible from the major metros in the country.
Hyderabad with its burgeoning economy boosted by IT, pharmacy, and biotech and finance industries is well poised to become the
MICE (Meetings, Incentives, and Conventions & Exhibitions) hub for South Asia. Hyderabad is what we call, India, for the beginners. It is clean, progressive and is endowed with great tourist locations, including historic monuments in addition to a favorable business climate.
