¿What is Batoxil LA?
BATOXIL LA is an sterile injectable solution of Oxytetracycline (200 mg/ml). Antimicrobial, bacteriostactic, specially formulated with agents and vehicles that award to its formulation a long effect.

BATOXIL LA achieves its ideal concentrations in corporal fluids, serum and exudates. The Minimal Inhibitory Concentrations can be measured approximately 23 hours in bovine and 18 hours in porcine, after the injection of the recommended dose. Levels of the antibiotic in serum (more than 0.2 mcg/ml) can be observed during 3 to 4 days after the application of BATOXIL LA.

The Oxytetracycline derives from the metabolism of the Streptomyces rimosus. It is an effective agent in the treatment against most of infections produced by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria.

BATOXIL LA is indicated for the treatment of infectious processes caused by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, Mycoplasma, Chlamydia, Rickettsia and some fungi pathogenic protozoans.

DOSAGE:

• Bovines, Ovine, Porcine and Canines:

1 ml/10 kg of weight,

IM injectalbe. In bovines, do not apply more than 10 ml in the same point of application. In porcine, ovine and canines, do not apply more than 5 ml in per point of application.

• Poultry:

0.25 ml/kg.

SQ injectable. In animals that weigh less than 1 kilo the recommended dose is 0.25 ml.

Frequency:

If its necesary treatment can be repeated 3 to 5 days after the first application.

ADMINISTRATION:

Sterile injectable solution ready to use.

PRESENTATION:

Multidose vials containing 500 ml, 250 ml and 100 ml of sterile injectable solution.

OBSERVATION:

Due to the fact that it is a broad spectrum antibiotic, it is suggested to use it for Actinobacillosis (produced by Actinobacillus lignieressii, Anaplasmosis, Bedsomiasis, symptomatic carbuncle, infectious Coryza, Young animals Diarrhea (Colibacilosis, Salmonelosis), bacterial Enteritis, Erisipela, Bovine Respiratory Disease (associated to Pasteurella sp and Haemophilus sp), Unspecified infections caused by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, Post calving infections (metritis) and post surgical infections, Leptospirosis (Leptospira pomona), septicemic Mastitis, pneumonias and respiratory illness, Keratoconjuntivitis (caused by Moraxella bovis), atrophic Rinitis and Diphtheria caused by Fusobacterium necrophorum.

COLLATERAL EFFECTS:

- Small swelling can be observed in some cases after the injection, it desappears in a few days without any need of treatment.

- Anaphylactoid reactions have been reported. If happens suspend treatment and begin syntomathic support.

RESTRICTION:

- Slaughter withdrawal = 28 days

- Do not use in dairy cows.

- Do not use in nesting hens.

PRECAUTIONS:

- Do not mix in the same syringe with other products

- Not to swalow. Keep out of the reach of children.

- Verify the integrity of the safety seal of the product prior to its application.

- Keep the conditions of asepsis and antisepsis before and during administration.

- Do not apply intravenous.

- Store the product between 4 and 25ºC. Keep out of sunlight. Store in a dry and hygienic place. Do not freeze.

ADVICE:

- It is suggested that the animals to be treated were not under stressing conditions neither before nor after administration of the product (long confinements, bad treatment, high temperatures during long periods, malnutrition or fiver).

- If after the first application initial symptoms remission is not observed, it is recommended to evaluate the diagnosis and therapeutics.

- Do not combine this antibiotic with bactericide agents such as penicillin derivates.

- Always consult to the veterinarian.

- Recyclable container. Destroy after use. Do not contaminate the environment.
