Rapid onset of diuretic action
Dimazon gives rapid onset of diuretic action with increased sodium and water excretion and is effective even in cases where glomerular filtration is impaired.
Description
Diuretic, saluretic. Diuretics are substances that increase the volume of urine excreted in a certain period of time. The increase in salt elimination (saluresis) is an essential condition on which the excellent efficacy of the preparation is based. In a certain type of nephritis, it is convenient to increase the flow rate of the kidney tissue to facilitate the excretion of metabolites, thus preventing the accumulation in toxic proportions of these substances in the blood and tissues. Pharmacology: The therapeutic efficacy of Salix® derives from the activity of the intact and unaltered molecule through the nephron, inhibiting the reabsorption of sodium not only in the proximal and distal tubule, but also in the ascending tube of the loop of Henle. In the distal tubule, the drug has a diuretic effect in both acidosis and alkalosis. The rapid onset of action is the result of the rapid absorption of the drug. Salix® has no inhibitory effects on carbonic anhydrase or aldosterone activity. The main characteristics of Salix® are: High degree of efficacy, low or no toxicity and wide therapeutic application. Rapid initiation of diuresis once administered, which can be expected within the first hour of its application. The diuresis can be managed and adjusted to the convenience of the veterinarian, depending on the dose to be applied. The sodium potassium ratio is very favorable. A correct dose response relationship and a minimum and maximum dose spectrum that can be increased 10 times. It is administered by injection, which is quickly absorbed, recommending the intravenous for an almost immediate diuresis. Salix® differs from diuretics known for: Lack of toxicity and good tolerance. Minimal influence on potassium excretion. Lack of influence on the metabolism of carbohydrates. Fast action, facilitating the physiological mechanism of the organism that eliminates any excess of liquid in a short time. Beginning and duration of the diuretic effect: During the first hour after the application, the excretion of more water, sodium and chlorine is achieved; then diuresis decreases until 4 hours after which it is normalized.
Composition
Furosemide: 5 g. Excipients c.s.p .: 100 ml.
Indications
Salix® has a dosage range like no other diuretic, being able to control diuresis exactly, according to the need of the case, from moderate diuresis, to a fast and immediate. In all species: Pulmonary edema (pulmonary congestion, ascites): the intravenous injection almost immediately alleviates the symptoms of edema due to cardiac influence. Pulmonary edema due to acute intoxication also responds to Salix® treatment, but in some cases it is recommended to double or triple the corresponding dose when starting it. Renal edema: this disease responds correctly to treatment with Salix® that exerts a diuretic effect, even with a very restricted glomerular filtration, showing a marked efficacy in the case of chronic glomerulonephritis. Pregnancy edema: when circumstances require effective diuresis. Salix® acts without any pathological effect and without any contraindication in the animals in gestation. Its application is especially recommended during the last 3 months of gestation, in order to eliminate excess liquids accumulated in the body. Cardiac edema: whenever its treatment is necessary, Salix® behaves effectively without contraindications. The combined use of Salix® with cardiac glycosides is recommended. Liver edema: Salix® has no influence on the liver, which is why its use is recommended, having achieved success with its application even in resistant ascites. Udder edema: the combined application of Salix® and Dexafort® quickly eliminates symptoms. Other applications: Due to its diuretic action, Salix® acts effectively in poisonings of different origin (food by stimulant drugs, intestinal or myogenic autointoxications, hemolytic diseases, etc). Intravenous injection in first application and then intramuscularly until the desired effect is obtained, causes conclusive results. With Salix®, useful effects can be expected to apply even in cases where other saluretics proved ineffective.
Dose
Large animals: Administer intramuscularly (IM) and / or intravenously (EV), the individual dose is 5 to 10 ml one to two times per day with intervals of 6 to 8 hours, until obtaining the required results.
Dogs and cats: Administer intravenously (IV) or intramuscularly (IM), the dose of 0.5 ml per 20 kilograms of body weight, once or twice a day, with an interval of 6 to 8 hours between both treatments.
